At Louisville Zoo, a colony of little blue penguins calls Penguin Cove home. This 13,000-gallon saltwater pools has above ground viewing on guest and acts as a conservation center for the park, rehabilitating the penguins and preparing them for release.
Satchell Engineering & Associates designed the aquatic Life Support System for this exhibit. The habitat uses a fine filtration system that consist of sand filters and pumps, chlorinators, heaters, and heat exchangers. See Project Gallery
