Discovery Cove Park is located in a 50 acre parcel adjacent to the Sea World, Orlando park. The park facilities include a million gallon swim-with Reef, 2.5 million gallon swim-with Dolphin Exhibit, River Feature, and Resort pool.
Satchell Engineering & Associates staff members made up the design team for the aquatic life support systems associated with the animal exhibits and pools. The innovative filtration, disinfection, precise fluvial hydraulics, and heat transfer engineering were major contributions to the economic feasibility in opening this new park. The freshwater river was integrated in to the main pool and traveled through a bird aviary, caves and heated alcoves which all required special engineering to ensure project success.
