The new African Penguin exhibit at the Columbian Park Zoo has a total budget of 1.6 million dollars. The new 7,200 gallon freshwater tank will provide the visitors both above water and below water viewing. The penguin exhibit will be recirculated and treated by a specialized life support system (LSS) to maintain water quality appropriate for animal health and viewing. Treatment processes include sand filtration, ozonation, deaeration, and temperature control for heating and chilling of the exhibit.
