The Milwaukee County Zoo built a new $7 million west parking lot and entry plaza at its western side. An otter area greets visitors at the new western entrance. The project also included a gift shop and other amenities. With green and natural materials, modern design reflecting the visual identity of the Milwaukee County Zoo brand. The goal was to maximize connection between indoors and outdoors, including symbolic connections to nature.
SE&A is provided Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents for the over 14,000 gallon freshwater otter exhibit. The River Otter Exhibit features a waterfall and two interconnecting pools. The exhibit allows both above water and underwater viewing with a 30 foot acrylic viewing window.
