The Milwaukee County Zoo’s Modern Woodmen Otter Passage exhibit is home to their North American River Otter. This habitat is 13,000-gallons of freshwater split between two main viewing pools. The pools both have above ground underwater viewing for guest to observe the natural behaviors of the animals and the exhibit has an otter tree slide for their enrichment.
Satchell Engineering & Associates working alongside PGAV Destinations designed the aquatic Life Support System for this exhibit. The system uses a fine filtration system that consists of vertical sand filters and pumps, deaeration towers, ozone disinfection, off-gas destruct, chlorinators, and heat exchangers.
