Large Mammal Exhibits

Satchell Engineering & Associates team was proud to be part of the OC Zoo $9 million expansion Large Mammal Exhibit in Irvine California. The habitat opened to the public on Friday, May 13th, 2022. The habitat houses three young mountain lions and a black panther.

The Large Mammal exhibits at the Orange County Zoo included 4 habitats. Two of the habitats were designed having waterfalls, streams, and pools for the animals. Each habitat has its own animal life support system (LSS). The 1,500- and 1,200-gallon freshwater habitats are above water viewing only.  The streams from the two habitats are independent from each other so that the systems can be drained and cleaned independently.  See Photo Gallery
