SeaWorld’s Killer Whale Encounter is the backstage holding tanks for the Orca’s housed in the park. These impressively large tanks not only allow for spectacular viewing of the orcas, but also give the orcas plenty of space to swim.

Robert Satchell, founding member of Satchell Engineering & Associates, was fundamental in the design of the aquatic Life Support System and project management for the Killer Whale Encounter exhibit at SeaWorld San Diego. The main exhibit and holding tanks total over 8.5 million gallons of saltwater with underwater viewing so guests can enjoy seeing the natural behaviors of the orcas.
