Big Bear Alpine Zoo, Grizzly & Black Bear Exhibit. These two exhibits feature a total of three pools designed by Satchell Engineering & Associates. The Grizzly Bear Exhibit has one pool that is 9,300-gallons, and the Black Bear Exhibit has two pools, totaling to 6,600-gallons. Satchell Engineering & Associates designed the Life Support System for these exhibits, consisting of vertical sand filters, sand filter pumps, basket strainers, and chlorinators to ensure proper filtration of the pools.
