On October 29, 2012, Superstorm Sandy hit the New York City region and created a flood surge that damaged a majority of the buildings, structures, and systems at the New York Aquarium. A team of engineers, architects, and estimators compiled a comprehensive Assessment Report for FEMA that identified the equipment, materials, structures, and systems that were damaged in the storm. The objective of this project is to restore the New York Aquarium to its pre-storm state and to make improvements based on the Assessment Report that identifies the equipment, materials, structures and systems that were damaged and require in-kind replacement along with approved mitigation measures to provide resiliency and prevent future flooding.
