Southern Illinois University, Aquatic Research Laboratory contains nine individual aquaculture systems and three individual alternate aquaculture systems designed to promote innovation research techniques in the field of aquaculture. Satchell Engineering & Associates designed the aquatic Life Support Systems for the laboratory, with the design consisting of vertical sand filters and pumps, biofilters and pumps, bag filters, fractionator skids, saltwater mixing tanks, UV sterilization, and heat exchangers.
