Busch Gardens is located in beautiful Tampa, Florida. The river hippopotamus exhibit is one of the main exhibits that can be found in the Edge of Africa attraction. Edge of Africa was designed to mimic a native environment for the animals so they can live comfortably and happily. Along with the hippo exhibit, the Edge of Africa also includes crocodiles, baboons, turtles, and cichlids.
Satchell Engineering & Associates was innovative in providing engineered solutions for the aquatic Life Support System design of the Hippopotamus and Crocodile exhibits consisting of pre-screening basins, filtration, heating/chilling, and ozonation processes. The site had several constraints that engineering had to over come such as railroad, monorail, gondola Skyride as well as elevation changes. See Photo Gallery
