Satchell Engineering & Associates designed the renovation of an aquatic Life Support System for an existing 100,000-gallon Koi Pond located in Kauai, Hawaii. The redesign of the koi pond posed challenges due to the limitations imposed by the original pool sumps, skimmers, and underground piping, which could not be modified due to being buried under existing pools. However, we successfully addressed these challenges by focusing on the redesign of the carbon filters and pumps, vertical sand filters and pumps, and UV sterilization equipment. The resizing of the equipment and pipes to accommodate the unique hydraulics allowed us to solve the water quality issues and give new life to the pond. See Photo Gallery
