Cali, Colombia
Zoologico de Cali holds a variety of different exhibits within their park. Two of the exhibits featured at the Zoo are the Giant River Otter and the Primates Lake. Primate lake is a 128,800-gallon freshwater lake that has above ground viewing and is designed for the playful nature of the primates. The Giant River Otter exhibit is a 25,000-gallon freshwater pool with underwater viewing for guests and a waterfall feature within the exhibit.
Founding member of Satchell Engineering & Associates, Robert Satchell, designed the aquatic Life Support Systems for these two exhibits. The exhibits are run on two separate systems that utilize a fine filtration methodology that consists of bead filters and pumps, drum filters and pumps, bag filters and pumps, deaeration towers, ozone disinfection, composite contact vessels, off-gas destruct, and chlorinators.
