The Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium is home to a numerous interactive exhibits designed for the optimal guest experience. One of these habitats is called the Great Barrier Reef, housing fish and coral that are native to the Australian Great Barrier Reef.
Satchell Engineering & Associates were contracted by the aquarium staff to perform an evaluation of the existing aquatic Life Support System equipment for this exhibit and create a concept design that would increase the water clarity of this tank. At the site visit, we were able to see the equipment up close and pinpoint where the issues in the system were that were leading to this decreased water clarity. From there, we were able to propose and design three solutions to improve the water clarity within the aquariums budget, such as adding horizontal sand filters at different locations throughout the building that would work with the aquarium’s limited space.
