Newport Aquarium contracted Satchell Engineering & Associates to perform a site evaluation of the current aquatic Life Support Systems for their exhibits. We evaluated five exhibits at the site: Shark, Coral Reef, Stingray Touch tank, Amazon, and Penguins. Each of these five exhibits were run on their own life support systems and this evaluation was performed in order to identify which parts of this system were in need of critical upgrades.
Once on site, we performed external evaluations of the equipment and collected staff testimonies to determine the remaining life span of the equipment. With the observations, we were able to determine which pieces of the equipment within the systems needed replacement, devise plans for future proposed improvements, and provide cost estimates for these improvements.
