The Clearwater Marine Aquarium Manatee Rehabilitation Center is an exhibit dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of manatees within the Florida area, with the focus being on release back to the wild. This 89,000-gallon fresh and saltwater exhibit is designed with this mission of rehabilitation in mind, making it easy for the staff to treat the animals, while also providing underwater viewing for guests to learn more about the rehabilitation process.
Satchell Engineering & Associates designed the aquatic Life Support System for this exhibit. This habitat included two pools that were run on the same Life Support System, the 39,000-gallon Med pool and the 50,000-gallon exhibit pool for guest underwater viewing. We used a fine filtration system consisting of sand filters and pumps, ozone disinfection, off-gas destruct, chlorinators, and heat pumps. See Photo Gallery
