Satchell Engineering & Associates were contracted by Columbian Park Zoo to create a Concept Design for their Otter exhibit expansion. Columbian Park Zoo is looking to expand the North American River Otter Exhibit to increase the size of the pool for the otters to have more space to play and to upgrade the current filtration system.
The aquatic Life Support System for this concept design utilizes a fine filtration system to improve the water clarity. The system consists of vertical sand filters and pumps, deaeration towers, ozone disinfection, off-gas destruct, chlorinators, and heat exchangers.
